Portage Community Bank Receives Prestigious Preferred Lender Status from SBA
During the last few years of economic uncertainty, Portage Community Bank continued to be a leader in lending to businesses in Portage County. At a time when many found it increasingly difficult to obtain financing, PCB remained committed to using the bank's resources to fill the needs of business owners throughout the community.
In some instances PCB has been able to assist businesses by utilizing various governmental programs including the United States Department of Agriculture/Rural Development Loan Guaranty Program and the State of Ohio's GrowNOW Linked Deposit Program.
In 2009 and again in 2010, PCB was recognized as one of the top Small Business Administration (SBA) lenders in Northeast Ohio by Crain's Cleveland Business. In December of 2010, PCB learned that it had received the prestigious Preferred Lender Program (PLP) status from the SBA. By participating in the PLP, the bank will be able to dramatically increase the efficiency and expediency of the SBA lending process. PLP status is reserved for banks that show an exceptional performance record with the SBA with strong volume and low default rates. PLP status is the highest distinction that a bank can receive from the SBA.
Moving forward into 2011, Portage Community Bank remains dedicated to continue living up to its motto of "Neighbors Serving Neighbors". The bank will maintain its high level of service to its existing customers, while continuing to add customers throughout the area.

NOTICE OF CHANGES IN TEMPORARY FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS
All funds in a "noninterest-bearing transaction account" are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012. This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
The term "non-interest-bearing transaction account" includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest. It also includes Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts ("IOLTAs"). It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit accounts that may earn interest, NOW accounts, and money-market deposit accounts.
For more information about temporary FDIC insurance coverage of transaction accounts, visit www.fdic.gov.
